Blue sky at the touch of a button
Dull dark rooms are history thanks to our ceiling lighting. Bring your own sunrise into the office. Whenever you want.
How can you create a clear blue sky just by lighting? Mitsubishi Electric makes it possible: We have developed a ceiling lighting system that simulates a clear blue sky. Quite simply with the help of LED lights. Windowless rooms in offices, hospitals or shopping malls, for example, are flooded with light at the touch of a button. And not only that, there is also a version that simulates the natural course of the sun and can even produce sunrises and sunsets.
In addition, bright rooms serve to promote a healthy work-life balance – a concept that is becoming increasingly important these days. And lifts the mood.
Reproduction of the sky – how does it work?
The blue sky you see on a clear day is created by what is known as Rayleigh scattering – the scattering of light by particles in the Earth’s atmosphere that are smaller than light waves. Because blue light waves are shorter than red light waves, they are scattered more towards us – that’s why the sky looks blue on a clear day.
The LED skylight from Mitsubishi Electric uses the same phenomenon to artificially recreate a deep blue sky. Here, the light from the LED spotlights is artificially refracted with a plastic foil. White and orange LEDs are then switched on as required – and you can enjoy your own sunset or sunrise.
